About Us

Welcome to CSI Church Austin Congregation. Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! The amalgamation of the Anglican, Methodist, Presbyterian and Congregational Churches in India on September 27, 1947 led to the formation of the Church of South India. It is the second largest ecclesial body in India. We are part of that august body with our services in our mother tongue, Malayalam and in English. With the new generation brought up outside Kerala State, and with most of them not inclined to speak or write Malayalam, services in English have become a way out.It was only a few years ago that the CSI Christian diaspora of Austin began to take shape. There were only a few CSI families here and hence it could not get into full swing as a budding church. With the fast-growing pace of Austin and with the influx of people, the hopes and possibilities of establishing a CSI Church looms brighter and brighter. The long-standing rapport and ecumenical push between the Marthoma Church and the CSI Church prompted many of our members to attend the Syrian Marthoma Church in Austin. The innate desire to sustain the rich CSI tradition and teaching, and upbringing of our members prompted them to find ways and means to establish a CSI Church for themselves. Thus began this church planting. The presence of the Rev. Dr. George Oommen, the son of the Very Rev. P. O. Varghese, in Texas made this long-desired hope bloom. Rev. Dr. George Oommen Panvelil has been rendering valuable service even during his retired life.It is our belief that we will be able to establish a full fledged parish sooner than later.• Matthew 16:18: Jesus says, "I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it". This verse emphasizes the importance of faith and understanding Jesus's role and identity for the church's growth.• 1 Corinthians 3:11: Paul confirms that the church is founded on Jesus Christ.• John 10:10: Jesus Christ is the life of the church.• Galatians 6:9: "And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart".
